Adding A Little Sol To The BVI Spring Regatta

A gold sponsor of the BVI Spring Regatta and Sailing Festival since 2007, sol was keen to increase its impact at the Regatta Village and to leverage its support of the regatta committee's commitment to the Sailors for the Sea, Clean Regatta certification.

Broadsword suggested promoting a free draw for Shell V-Power® fuel that would award a free tank of the ‘cleaner engine’ gasoline to two winners for each day of the regatta. The promotion was publicized through radio, print and online media prior to the regatta as well as at the Regatta Village. The two winners were announced at the village each evening. All six names were broadcast on radio during the coverage of the final BVISR 2009 awards presentation and were published in other broadcast, online and print media.

The Shell V-Power® fuel promotion tied in with the cleaner environment initiative of the Clean Regatta drive for which sol sponsored the Oil-Dri Marine Absorbent Pads.

These absorbent pads soak up any oil based fuel and were designed to minimize the impact of accidental spillage. A branded roll of these pads was provided in the skipper’s bags distributed by the Spring Regatta committee. Local print and online media carried a press release on the marine absorbent pads, which was drafted and distributed by Broadsword.

Broadsword also provided imagery of the sol Race Course for the sol Group web site.
